August 20-2 1120

Things are falling in place for the welcome home Tyler party tonight. This community is extraordinary. Thanks to many donations we're going to have quite the raffle. Tyler , Josh and I are going to put up the sign in front of the church, and then have lunch. Hope to see you all there tonight.

Party:
6-9 P.M.
South Congregational Church
242 Salmon Brook St.
Granby, CT

Love to faults is always blind, always is to joy inclined. Lawless, winged, and unconfined, and breaks all chains from every mind.
-William Shakespeare

August 20-1 0730

Tyler, Hillary and Josh had a fun visit yesterday evening, card playing, and lots of laughing. Tyler and Hillary finished the "Welcome Home" sign for me (Picasso is rolling over in his grave). After a restful night for all, it's time to start running around and putting the final touches on tonight's festivities. Tyler is looking forward to seeing all his "peeps".

We are formed and molded by our thoughts. Those whose minds are shaped by selfless thoughts give joy when they speak or act. Joy follows them like a shadow that never leaves them.

August 19-2 1500

I just got back from getting the T-shirts for Ty's party tomorrow night (8/20, 6-9, South Congregational Church, Granby Center). Steve (Bruce's partner at Fatty's Skis and Boards, Rt 44 Canton) did an awesome job, they're hysterical and look great. The food is all set thanks to help from Ted S. and Price Chopper Grocery Store. Tyler got back from the beach, and like the Energizer Bunny, he's still going. Hillary is coming by to visit, and I'm doing the sign for the party. If anyone wants to help out, feel free to call me at home. Thanks.

P.S.
If you can, bring a dessert.

August 19-1 0620

Up and at 'em early. Tyler and I are going to thank the big guy at synagogue for delivering him from the edge. Ty's psyched, not only does he get to voice his feelings to G-d in temple, on Fridays they serve breakfast.

August 18-2 1820

We're taking it easy tonight. Tyler and I are going to Minyan (morning prayer service) tomorrow. Then Ty is going with Linda to the beach.

August 18-1 1330

OK, we got lots to cover so pay attention. The welcome home party for Tyler is this Saturday 8/20 from 6-9 at the South Congregational Church on Salmon Brook Rd. in the center of Granby. Reverend Moon and his congregants have been unbelievably accommodating and supportive, allowing us the use of the church's back field, parking lot, and facilities. There will be food, soda, side dishes, and music. also, there will be special "Welcome home Tyler" T-shirts on sale to support the Tyler rehab fund. We would love to see all of you there. We know this is short notice, sorry, get over it, sometimes life pitches you a curve ball... just hit it. Oh yeah, Ty is doing great, lovin' being home and looking forward to the party.

P.S.
If you can bring some chips, or a dessert, great, if not, just be there.

August 17-3 1620

We had a great time with Nate, Russel, and Josh swimming in the Hayes Farm Pool. It was great to see Ty having fun with everyone, splashing around and laughing. Now Tyler and I are going to rest, and then make dinner.

August 17-2 1300

Tyler is doing well, still occasionally combating the reality of his situation. He said "even though I was never much for running, I sure would like to do that again". Otherwise Ty is resolved to doing whatever is necessary to win. Like all of us, he wishes this horrible episode of his life would be over so he could move on. We went on a few errands today, now it's rest time. Tyler and Josh are into a video adventure game TF2, The actions and motion are helping his fine motor skills (go figure).

August 17-1 0900

Yesterday was a busy day. Tyler had an extensive series of neurological tests, and did very well on all of them. These were designed to help place Ty in the appropriate therapy. He starts next week, going 2 days a week for about 3 hours. All of us are loving having him home.

August 16-1 0750

I left the house with both boys sound asleep, Diva at the foot of Josh's bed and Capone laying next to Ty with his head on Tyler's tummy. The house is starting to feel "right" again. Linda will be giving Ty a ride to Grammy's to hang around for a while. Then Grammy is driving Tyler to his evaluation, and I'm picking him up on my way home from classes. We will learn Ty's future schedule after this evaluation, and work to blend it with the start of school.

August 15-3 1800

A restful afternoon, and no one is hungry for dinner (go figure). It is a special feeling watching both my boys play video together, speaking in silly accents, and laughing. It may seem strange to say, but we have so much to be thankful for. Tyler is a bit disappointed at not really having a Summer break, but he seems ready to tackle the latest phase of his therapy and recovery tomorrow.

I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.

August 15-2 1500

A big day out. Grammy treated everyone to an all you can eat sushi/oriental buffet. Then we went clothes shopping for school. Both boys made out like bandits. Now we're all basking in food stupors.

August 15-1 0800

A lazy, rainy day, everyone is still in bed. Today will be one of a few visitors, and rest. Last night we had a lovely dinner and fun conversation with Grammy, Marty, and best friend Mimi.

August 14-3 1730

From the horses mouth:
I'm enjoying being home and visiting my friends and family. We are at Grammy's slowly starving waiting on the lasagna. I've started wearing the bear claw around my neck given to me by Lakota healer, Larry Fiddler. My next chapter of physical therapy begins this Tuesday with a clinical evaluation. That's about all for now, thanks for all the support.

Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?

Ty just got back from a therapeutic massage from his Mom, and scarfed down 3 hot dogs for lunch. We're planning on a quiet afternoon, then dinner at Grammy's and possibly a sleepover for Tyler at Nic's house. We need to hire a social secretary for Ty, he's quite the item.

August 14-1 0900

After visitors, and visiting, and dinner at his Mom's place, Tyler came home very tired, but happy. This morning he couldn't wait for breakfast, so he made coffee and had left over beef stew. Now Ty is listening to my old Pink Floyd vinyl albums on the stereo (he loves the nostalgic way it sounds). Plans are in a state of flux today, but regardless we are going to Grammy and Marty's for dinner.
