August 27-1 1420

Today was a busy time getting ready for the end of the world. Tyler was helping prepare flashlights and lanterns. His primary mission was ensuring the Internet was still operational by playing online games and
IM- ing friends. The trick is, as always, not to panic regardless of what the media wants us to do. Ty is doing well today, and his PT sessions went well yesterday. After we weather the pending storm, the next big milestone is the start of school on Tuesday.

August 26-1 0800

Tyler had a good night sleep and is cleaning the kitchen and watching Castaway, multitasking. Therapy is 1:00 today, and I'm going to an outdoor concert in Windsor tonight... a touch of normalcy.

A person however learned and qualified in his life's work in whom gratitude is absent, is devoid of that beauty of character which makes personality fragrant.

August 24-4 1920

We had some time for thoughtful reflection. Tyler's ability to compartmentalize things and, overall, accept what's happened and deal effectively with it, is amazing to me. The theories of random events and chance are mind numbing to consider. You can stack the table a mile high with the "what ifs" of this situation, and it still wouldn't change the reality, and that's what Tyler is determined to accept and overcome. Today was one of those rainy days where it's nice to relax and take care of computer work etc... Capone rarely leaves Tyler's side and loves having him home. Diva sleeps in her little cave under the desk and comes out for the occasional scratch behind the ear or snack. Josh is settling in very well at Rennselaer, and seems to have lucked out in the world wide roommate lottery. It's going to be an early bedtime for all, and then we must prepare for the end of the world hurricane, at least that's the impression TV is giving

The meeting at Granby Memorial HS.

First time back, check out the angelic lighting.

Returning, coffee in hand.

A quiet, restful afternoon so I thought I'd catch everyone up on some pictures.

August 25-1 0800

Tyler is relaxing over Nic's house today while I have meetings and get ready for the start of the new semester. Ty is looking forward to blending back into teenage life. We constantly have to remind him to not rush things. He is anxious to resume his life, and sometimes forgets his recovery will require patience.

August 24-2 1940

The meeting with the High School went famously. Everyone there is committed to Tyler's success. We are able to integrate his therapy with his course work with the ultimate goal of graduation in June. The therapists at the hospital are working with us to integrate Ty's healing with his schooling. Anyways, Ty is with his buddies at the movies, and sleeping over Nic's place so I can go to meetings tomorrow AM.

August 24-1 0830

Ty got a good night sleep, and is raring to go today. We are preparing for our meeting at the High School, then Tyler will have lunch with Grammy and Marty, then go to therapy. I'll be picking him up after my meetings at LCNE. By then Ty should be tuckered out. The boys are talking via Skype, I'm sure this lessens the anxiety on every ones part.

August 23-3 1915

Holy Cow... Tyler and I just ate ourselves into a food coma (much better than most other kinds). Thank you Hauser family from the bottom of our hearts (or stomachs). We were the lucky recipients of a delicious brisket, and a mound of mashed potatoes. Now Tyler is in computer land relaxing. We had a big day, with a great deal of walking, and Tyler held up very well.

August 23-2 1500

Just returned from dropping Josh off at RPI. On the way home, Tyler became a bit sad... so did I until I realized the sadness was due to Josh's roommate bringing a new 42" Plasma TV to the dorm room. The fact is, we will all miss having Josh around, But this is the way life should work. Time, and children march on. Ty is doing well, we have our meeting at the High School tomorrow AM and Ty goes to therapy in the afternoon.

Moving on, is a simple thing, what it leaves behind is hard.

Tyler slept over Nic's house with a few buddies. I'm going to pick him up soon, hope he got some sleep. Then Linda, Ty, Josh, and I are off to Rennselaer to deposit Josh (I wonder if he slept at all last night). Life moves on, whether you're ready for it or not. There's much excitement and some apprehension in the air on every one's part.

P.S.

We are about to cross the 90,000 page view number. Thanks again for the continued support.

August 22-3 1820

Tyler had an appointment with his family MD. He cut out Ty's anti reflux med, and said he had ingrown toe nails (big toes), ouch. He has to quit cutting his toe nails with an axe. Otherwise, Tyler is doing well. Nic has invited Ty for an overnight with some other buddies. We'll pick him up tomorrow AM, and all of us are going to RPI to drop Josh off to begin his Freshman year. This has been quite the year.

The guys help setup.

Alls well say's Tyler.

Alls well says Josh (must be genetic).

Tyler in his natural habitat... tied to the computer.

I had thought we forgot the camera to record Ty's party. Thanks to Ty remembering what I forgot, we have some pictures. There will be more to follow.

August 22-1 0800

In the example of our Lord, I took the 7th day off. The first since we started. The welcome home party was a resounding success. There were about 150 attendees, mostly Ty's classmates. There was food thanks Ted, and our dynamic chefs, Troy, Mary and Bob. Frank Luca brought a pile of pizzas from NYPD (New York Pizza Delivery). Also, a huge thank you to all the folks who brought various desserts and snacks, we are eternally grate full to all . Tyler had a glorious time, he looked like he was running for office. He had the chance to reconnect with his classmates, and see for himself all the amount of support he has from his friends.
